Sidebars and panels

Sidebars sit beside your content. You can create as many custom sidebars as you like under MD Settings, and each one becomes a widget area. Then:

  • Turn them on for a whole post type, only on archives, categories, or singles, or per post.
  • Choose left or right.
  • Pick which custom sidebar a page uses.

On this site: the blog’s default sidebar, the “Toolkit” sidebar on the left of See it live: Pricing, the “Work With Me” sidebar on See it live: About, and the “Margin Notes” sidebar on every book.

Panels are columns that slide in and out from a toggle in the header, and they can start open or closed. They’re designed for navigation, so this site uses exactly one: the Accordion menu on the left of this Colophon.
